Shazam!

The audience can agree that at one point in time most of us wanted to be a superhero, experience having all those powers, do what regular people can’t do, and most of all fight evil and crime, yea, the good old days. That was the mind of a real superhero fan. its an imagination honored by the movie Shazam. you kinda hoped that Shazam would’ve come with a little more glint tho. “Shazam is more so about the family, way before all of the villains and the heroes and all of that. Teenager batson played by Asher Angel causes a big bother to social workers and goes on to prank some philadelphia police. Victor and Rosa played by Cooper Andrews and Marta Milans are foster parents and they welcome Batson to their home, the family is pretty energetic. Other members of the fam include Eugene whos seriously addicted to playing entertainment systems and also theres Darla, who is very intelligent and DC superfan Freddy played by Jack Dylan Glazier, who Batson shares a bedroom with.

Batson’s main mission is to break free and find the parent who years ago, left him abandoned, even with all the great foster family that he surrounded by, the mission still stands. One day Batson is escaping some bullies and transports to The Rock of Eternity, the lair of the wizard, shall we say Wizard Shazam. He’s a pretty serious wizard, one might add. But he feels the kid Batson is pure and decides to give the kid powers. So now Batson turns into a typical looking superhero with a cape and spandex every time he says the wizard’s name.

Freddy helps Batson figure out a whole bunch of superpowers he no idea that he had. Someone else has found a way into the cave of the wizard, and that guy would happen to be Thaddeus Sivana played by Mark Strong. Sivana had his own childhood problems and like the teenage Batson has his own similar powers as well. But when Thaddeus discovers the powers that Batson holds, he is on a mission to find him. sure the audience can agree to the fact that Zachary Levi does not do to well of a job acting out the role of having a teenage mind when Batson turns into Shazam.

The movie at times can be a little extra, but I think that’s what the filmmakers intended to do after a couple of the earlier foster home bonding scenes. A couple of stand out moments, and a couple of favorites in ” Shazam” would definitely have to be when things went a little insane when Sivana made his way to a meeting. And when Batson figures out that he can’t be hurt by bullets and asks the robbers of the convenience store to shoot him, that scene was hilarious, not too much, but you got some giggles out of that. The first half of the movie was without a doubt unpredictable. The director of shazam knew exactly when and where to throw his special ingredients in the film, From Sarvini bringing that gloomy type of creepiness on the big screen to the well put together cast, with those all those ingredients mixed just right, David F.Sandberg brings us an amazing movie.
